More Resin Info

Resin Stone Overlaying is effectively surfacing over your existing block-paved, tarmac or concrete driveway, path or patio.

Resin Overlays provide a highly cost-effective and quick way of replacing the surface in the garden or on the driveway.

As well as being aesthetically pleasing and highly durable, the benefits include:

Being both solvent and odour free, during and after application – Restricting growth of weeds – Eliminating loose stones – Being environmentally friendly – Compliance with Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS).

Overlay system. We initially prepare the existing surface using a high-pressure jet washer. Weed killer is applied next and then an edging, either in block paving or metal is fitted. A primer is then applied before your chosen resin stone combination.

The overlay system can typically can be done in a day, with minimal inconvenience.

Full installation system will take 1 or 2 days for the groundwork and one day to lay the resin stone finish.

For the Resin Bonded Drive, the life expectancy is between 8 and 15 years whereas the Resin Bound Drive has a higher life expectancy of between 10 and 20 years.

Both types of drive are very efficient and beneficial to you in the short and long term.

The installation: resin and aggregates are joined together and laid as a seamless carpet of natural products. Bound and fully encapsulated in a coating that is called Resin Bound.

Generally, aggregates or gravels are mixed in a mixer with resin and hardener, then laid out.

This can be overlaid to existing or new concrete or tarmac, to create beautiful drives, paths, patios for an unmatched smooth finish

to a depth of around 10 to 25 mm thick, depending on the application and traffic.

Mixing different bags of aggregates or using small bags of highly contrasting aggregates means you can create hundreds of options from our range.

Taking care of your resin bound driveway

Although your resin bound surface requires little maintenance, to keep it at its best it should be regularly swept to remove leaves, debris and dirt to prevent any moss growth or staining.

Should any moss or weed growth occur it can be treated with an appropriate herbicide and a bleach solution may be used to restore the resin to its original colour. However you should ensure the bleach is rinsed off well with clean water and always follow the manufacturers guidelines and area environmental guides.

You may contact us for more information.

Should you find chewing gum on your resin surface, this should be removed by freezing and carefully chipping off.

Your resin bound surface will last for many years of normal everyday usage.

Heavy objects, such as skips, are not considered to be normal usage and the surface should be protected against skips being dragged across its surface.

Any light coloured aggregates may show tyre marks which can be removed by cold pressure washing (up to a maximum of 150 bar rating).  The water should be applied using a fan type spray and shouldn't be too close to the surface.  Take care not to use excessive water pressure.
